The rocker took a free time to act to manage his health complications, but a few weeks before his death, he went on stage one last time by the “Back to the Beginning” performance on July 5 in Birmingham, England.
What causes Parkinson’s?
Brandon Crawford, a functional development neurologist of Cedar Park, Texas, and co -founder of the Austin Neurosolution Center, said that Parkinson’s disease can affect everyone differently.
The progressive neurodegenerative disorder affects the area of the brain called the average brain, which produces chemical dopamine.

Dopamine is known for promoting happiness, but it also motivates the body to move and think.
Only 10% to 15% of Parkinson’s cases are “clearly linked” to genetics, said Crawford, while most are due to a combination of gentle genetic susceptibility and environmental triggers.

“Things like toxins, head trauma, sleep interruption or chronic inflammation tits the balance towards the disease,” said Crawford, who did not treat Osbourne, in Fox News Digital.
Parkinson’s patients often notice a physical slowdown and the inability to move their body. Some will experience first tremors, which Crawford called a “Hallmark sign”, often starting in their hands.
Experts warn the risk of Alzheimer’s with a specific sleep pattern
The disease can also cause digestive complications, such as constipation, inflamed gut or general intestinal problems. The doctor said that cognitive decline is also an “important component” in the development of Parkinson’s.
“Dopamine travels from the middle brain to the frontal lobe and gives us our ability to think,” said Crawford. “It gives us many of our executive skills. And therefore, cognitive capacity begins to decline.”

Patients may also notice Sleech and deregulated moods, often have signs of depression or general lack of motivation.
“It is beyond having tremors or slowing down movement,” said Crawford. “This neurodegenerative disease begins to affect someone’s life.”
Disease management
Although there is no care for Parkinson, it can be managed with dopamine agonists (medicines that mimic dopamine) and other stimulants who can stabilize the symptoms for a limited time.
There may be “moments of clarity” and a better movement, Crawford said, “But as these drugs begin to decrease, the whole type that falls again.”

In 2024, during an episode of his Siriusxm “Ozzy Speaks” program, with the co-amfitrio Billy Morrison, the singer shared details on stem cell treatments for his condition, which he would have received for several years.

Kelly Osbourne, Ozzy’s daughter, commented in a 2020 interview with Celle4life, a UK -based stem cell bank, that his father’s progress after a single treatment was “puzzling”.
“He wants to get up. “Walk better. He is talking better. His symptoms are diminishing. He is building the muscle strength he needs.”

According to General Brigham, stem cell therapy for Parkinson’s disease could replace dopamine neurons lost by degeneration.
The hospital system announced the approval of the FDA of a phase 1 clinical trial for therapy in March.
Environmental factors
According to Crawford, Ozzy Osbourne’s metal and rock-Star lifestyle did not help the development of his state, according to Crawford.
Circadian interruptions can be a significant Parkinson’s precursor, as it remains late at night in artificial lighting and eating foods outside a normal schedule can be detrimental to the brain.

“When the sun sets, our retinas, our brain, our entire biology, is not designed to have this high light stimulus,” Fox News Digital told Fox. “Multiple studies show that this type of exhibition … can interrupt this circadian biology.”
These factors can also alter the microbiome, intestinal function, neurotransmitter production, liver function, detox pathways and stem cell migration, and can also promote chronic inflammation, warned the doctor.

For someone like Ozzy Osbourne who lived a lifestyle that probably does not consider “natural rhythms”, there may be a higher risk of other conditions, such as Alzheimer’s or heart disease, according to the expert.
Other lifestyle factors that could have caused the Osbourne Parkinson’s diagnosis include the constant presence of strong music, the abuse of substances and the header, mentioned Crawford.

In addition to strong music, studies have shown that long -term exposure to heavy metals in the environment of a rock star, such as Mercury, Manganese and Lead, could increase the risk of Parkinson’s.
“While traveling around the world, you stay in older places or use old equipment in a poorly ventilated area,” said Crawford. “All of these things are starting to add up.”
